A commendable company

It’s nice to see an uplifting story today in a sea of economic nightmares. I hadn’t even heard that the Archway cookie company had closed it doors in October — the cookies were sold in stores like Target and Wal-Mart.

But another company, Lance, bought Archway at an auction and immediately rehired 60 of the 300 workers, at full seniority and previous wages, providing health insurance from the first day back on the job. And more of the former employees may be rehired within the next year.

But what amazes me the most is that Lance gave EACH of the 300 of the laid-off Archway workers a $1,500 debit card, just in time for Christmas.

Just some happy news!
