While it’s the way to go for those who have minimal time and expendible cash available, having a baby shower at a restaurant or catering hall can be expensive.
My aunt is throwing a shower for my cousin’s wife, and we’re doing it at her house. A number of us are pitching in by bringing a part of the meal. That way, no one person has the responsibility of preparing EVERYTHING. I’m making a fruit salad and will help with whatever is left to prepare in the morning. Other family and friends are making salads, cold-cut platters, casseroles and desserts. The only thing being purchased outright is the cake.
I find a shower — even a bridal shower — held at someone’s house or in their yard to be much more personal, nevermind thrifty. And homemade food tends to be much more delicious!
