Congratulations on your refund! It will be a great feeling to finally be free of that credit card debt, whoo hoo! I can’t wait until I pay off my line of credit I really don’t like paying more interest than I should.

As for your home improvements, it sounds like you have a few projects that will benefit from that windfall. Good luck on those counter tops! I did read an article in sunset magazine about a couple that made their own counter tops out of cement. They have a detailed step by step process on how to make them. There are some benefits to a cement counter top, such as durability. (though I’m not sure about staining!)

Horray for refunds!

It’s nice to get back money huh instead of paying out? We got back money again this year.

I really like direct deposits. It comes faster than conventional mailings.

Furniture!! Since Dave and I are moving and have been married now for a few weeks shy of 11 years and the kids are getting older, we finally decided to purchase a new living room set. I went to Big Lots and found fantastic furniture, made in the USA, with plywood and solid wood frames – not fiberboard! My couch and loveseat ended up costing $727 with the tax and I couldn’t be happier! On a side note, I went to IKEA and bought a matching end table, coffee table, and tv stand to accomodate our 42″ HDTV we finally bought last year. That ended up costing me $86 for all 4 tables. I bought the same ones I had when the kids were little because they beat the tar out of them and anything that got on them cleaned up perfectly with magic eraser – I just have no idea what happened to them when we moved, hence the need for new ones!

I thought of you this year actually. We got back $4000 fed and $500 state. Cut one credit card in half thanks to the fed return and the other we used to visit my dad in Florida. Where we are now We’re doing it on the cheap Nicole. You’d be proud. Staying at my mother’s condo. Using my dad’s car, eating most meals in or with family. Just enjoying free beach and condo pool.
